Urgent Deadline: June 5

Submit your FAFSA or Alternative Application as soon as possible

The Illinois Student Assistance Commission (ISAC) announced today that applicants whose initial 2025-26 FAFSA or Alternative Application for Illinois Financial Aid is received after Thursday, June 5 will be put on a waiting list for MAP funding. This means you may not receive the MAP grant if your initial application is received after this date. Be sure to or as soon as possible before the June 5 deadline.

What does this mean for me?
MAP-eligible students who complete a FAFSA or Alternative Application after June 5 will be put on a waiting list for MAP funding. If ISAC determines that additional grants could be offered, they would be announced based on the order in which the applications were received. Students have until June 5 at 11:59 p.m. Central Time to submit their 2025-26 applications before being put on the waiting list for MAP. Students who meet the eligibility requirements for federal Pell Grants can still receive that funding for fall.

Why is the MAP grant being reduced?
A significant increase in the number of enrolled students at MAP-approved institutions for the Fall 2024 term resulted in much higher claim rates than the program has experienced in over a decade. This has had an unexpected impact on funding.
