This Anti-Hazing Policy applies to all Dominican University students, faculty, staff, volunteers, trustees, student organizations and athletics teams. It includes all on- and off-campus activities, both in-person and virtual.
Federal law defines hazing as an intentional act that causes physical or psychological harm and is committed against another person for initiation into, affiliation with, or membership in a student organization, including athletic teams.
Acts of hazing may:

- Endanger the health and safety of a student

Under Illinois law, hazing is a Class A misdemeanor offense or a Class 4 felony if the act results in death or great bodily harm.
The (SCHA), enacted on Dec. 23, 2024, amends the Clery Act to prioritize the prevention and transparency of hazing incidents at colleges and universities. The SCHA requires colleges and universities to include statistics for reported hazing incidents in their annual security reports. These are incidents that were reported to campus security or local law enforcement.
Dominican University鈥檚 Campus Hazing Transparency Report includes details for each incident in which the institution has determined hazing has occurred. For each incident, the report provides:
- The name of the student organization involved in the hazing violation
- A general summary of what occurred, including:
- Whether alcohol or drugs were involved
- The university鈥檚 conclusion
- Any action imposed on the organization by the university (if applicable)
- Key dates related to the incident, including:
- When the hazing was alleged to have happened
- When the university began investigating
- When the investigation concluded with a finding that hazing had occurred
- When the organization was officially notified of that finding
Campus Hazing Transparency Reports will be released twice a year, at the conclusion of fall and spring semesters, and can be found on this page.
