By Hook or by Crook is the Advanced fibers exhibition shown at Eastern Bloc. Vernissage Friday March 30th 8pm-11pm. I'll have one of my works called What you take off isn’t always gone my investigations of skin marks from clothing. Here are initial investigations toward the work I will show at the exhibit. By Hook or By Crook is an exhibition in the domain of fibre that amalgamates the works of sixteen artists. Showing at Eastern Bloc from March 30th to April 5th 2012, the event celebrates the implication of fibre-based processes investigated during their undergraduate careers at Concordia University. This student-led exhibition By Hook or By Crook is a diversified marriage of practices and approaches that expand on the possibilities of fibre art. Contemporary reinterpretations of fibre are a veritable explosion of known boundaries. The environment created questions various themes, such as the body and its functions, identity, mark-making, traces and labour practices. Above all, fibre implicates a research of materiality and texture that is prominent throughout this show. By Hook or By Crook is like a firework display : each individual finds their own colour and as a result the work skyrockets and erupts in the same space. This show incorporates varied interpretations of what represents fibre in a contemporary framework, embodied by a group of emerging artists. The artists taking part in this exhibition are : Jessica Bélanger, Tanya Bernleithner, Munirih Campbell, Sandra Chirico, Jules Desmarais, Selina Doroshenko, Karen Warshaw Lampcov, Véronique Leblanc, Courtenay Mayes, Emily Kathleen McIntyre, Ali Moenck, Lauren Osmond, Diana Pèrez, Cedar-Eve Peters, Jodi Sharp, Janna Maria Vallée.
